20 Favourite Guitarists - Opinions

  1. Dimebag Darell due to how amazing he was at shredding and because Pantera are one of my favourite bands x
  2. JIMMY F**KING PAGE. Also, Alex turner is such an underestimated guitarist. Considering arctic monkeys have only been going for just over 5 years and had the fastest selling debut album within a few years of picking a guitar up. If you really strip down some of their songs the riffs are incredible.
  3. johnny marr because he is so creative and melodic! X
  4. John Frusciante purely coz the red hot chili peppers were my first love if not Jimi Hendrix.
  5. Omar Rodriguez Lopez cos hes got the strangest style of writing music of all time.
  6. Brad Delson from linkin park his solos are legendary.
  7. Alex Turner (Favourite Band)
  8. Mick Jones of the Clash – liked the energy of the band.
  9. Slash, because of his guitar riffs.
  10. Matt Bellamy (favourite band)
  11. Slash
  12. Slash
  13. Slash
  14. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails. He really did not like guitars much back in 1989 when he had his first album out. He can make guitars sound smashed/de tuned/wahwah/crunch in a way few people can do. Also good:
Matt Bellamy (Muse)
Gavin Rossdale (Bush)
  15. Joe Satriani, hes f**king amazinG.
  16. Well I'm a bass player, so I suggest:
Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) coz he basically 'invented' the slap bass. He also is in a lot of oldskool hiphop songs for the basslines... Anyway he has a wide range of bass styles.

Drawing influences from funk music and punk rock, Flea centers his bass playing on simplicity and minimalism while viewing complexity as a device that should be used in moderation. (this is from wiki, but couldn't have said it any better myself )
  17. If we go way back I'd say Carl Perkins and maybe Chuck Berry.
Especially for those days these guys were astonishing new soundwise..
  18. Dimebag Darrell. No question.

Also, if you guys haven't heard of him, check out Victor Wooten. There's a guitar/bass battle that's definitely worth watching, which I've posted below. In my mind, he's actually better than Flea.
  19. Angus Young from AC/DC hands down because of the great improvisation he does in songs.  Chuck Berry's another great guitarist. Especially with his trademark 'duck walk'.
  20. Hendrix or Paige. Both are brilliant. Hendrix was off his head most of the time. Which made him brilliant.
