Silhouettes & Textures

The God of War III title sequence.  The way the textures are used really gives the animation depth, character and consistency throughout.  The deep colour red is used well to pick out key features and also, to add to the consistency and theme.  I think the animation excels with clever transitions, and although there is a lot to take in, I feel the scenes that have limited movement are more visually effective.  It allows the viewer to take in what is going on, and is a good change of pace from the quick panning of the camera.

Although this animation is a lot more sophisticated than what we'll be able to achieve with the time we have, I just want to point out the style of the short film - how it gives different moods and communicates different environments.  The vector images on the different coloured backgrounds help give this a very unique feel, and shows that silhouettes can be used to communicate a person and their movements - even in motion.
