Design For Print: Publishing & Editorial

What I like about this publication is the simple use of black & white photography, the use of the colour red and the stock that it is printed on.  It gives the print a vintage feel, it gears a more positive response than say, being printed on standard white A4.  The parcel paper at the back of the magazine enhances the vintage vibe and promotes nostalgia that no other stock could produce.

Similar to the "Dale Magazine" above, this publication has a limited colour palette and focuses on desaturated imagery to complement the colour scheme.  This simplicity makes the magazine easier to break down and read, in my opinion.  The off-white stock helps to soften the darks whilst still highlighting the key points in red effectively.

What I appreciate about this print is the way the stock is used to pick out other areas.  Creating gaps in the stock to allow other imagery to pass through can help to create another meaning out of the same image through the use of shapes.  The colour scheme is kept simple, two colours plus stock, which makes the publication easy on the eye.
